This is not my first blog. I have dabbled with various free and self
hosted blogs over the past 5 years. I have spent way too much money
on Ebooks and courses and PLR products with Master Resale Rights.
Not to mention membership sites, with their recurring monthly debits
from my Paypal account. I have wasted too much time endlessly
debating with myself whether this or that system is the one that will
truly allow me to “crack the code” and really start to make money
online.
What I have not done is spend enough time and effort to really put
what I have learned into practice. I have followed certain marketers
from afar through their Ebooks, emails and forums. What I was lacking
was accountability. What I needed was someone who could take me by
the hand and show me the way, a mentor. Someone with whom I could
communicate when I had a question, when I ran up against the brick
wall that we all find now and then as we struggle to learn new skills.
This blog begins a new journey, one that I invite you, the readers of
my blog, to share with me as I blaze new trails in the internet
wilderness. When I find something that really works, something
that actually brings in a significant return, I promise to share it
with you. And if something doesn’t work, I will share that with you
also. That’s why I named this blog Effective Marketing for Real
People. I will share with you what I have found to work in my own
marketing, not what I have heard from someone else. And I want to
connect with real people and get to know them as more than just a
faceless prospect on my email list.
I believe that I have found the mentor and the community of people
who can lead me on this path I have chosen. Craig Caron introduced
me to a group of people that he and Nancy Radlinger and Brian
Schilling have been leading for the past year. It’s called Family
Networker, a group that is free to join but has the kind of training
and support that I have only seen in paid membership sites before
this. Communication between members is facilitated by a Skype
group that is much more active, and interactive, than even the best
forums that I have been a member of before.
If you have been toiling in the internet jungles for years like I have,
but still have little to show for it, I want to give you a word of
encouragement. Never Give Up! Don’t try to go it alone. There are
very few lone ranger types who really succeed with no help from
anyone. Find a mentor to guide you, and a group of people who
will hold your hand or give you a swift kick in the pants, whichever
